Securing North Africa’s Water Future: Five Years of Strategic Dialogue

Date

Over the past five years, SouthMed Global (SMG) and our leadership team have led a high-level strategic dialogue with North African delegations, anchoring a sustained commitment to regional resilience and resource security. Through multiple high-level meetings held with key teams from North Africa, including Libya and Tunisia, alongside vital institutional sessions with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), these engagements have targeted the core vulnerabilities of arid and semi-arid landscapes.

The discussions focused intensely on deploying advanced agricultural irrigation ecosystems and resilient hydrological infrastructures to combat severe regional water scarcity. By combining cutting-edge water management techniques with multilateral cooperation, this multi-year initiative continues to lay the groundwork for long-term ecological stability, agricultural productivity, and sustainable development across the Mediterranean and North African basins.
